I'm growing out hair and I want to layer it into that scene-ish mullet. How to, and what's

I'm growing my hair out now, and I'm looking to get it eventually shaped into the mullet-type thing that has been getting more and more in style these days. It more prominent on scene kids or "emo"... whatever. I'm just trying to find out what it's actually called so that when I go the haircutters, they don't look at me as if I'm the biggest redneck they've ever met. That's NOT the kind of cut I want, I want te one that Aaron Gillespie from Underoath kind of USED to have. Is it just super-layered long hair? I want those rattail things.

Pictures of that specific style would be ABSOLUTELY great... if you know what I'm talking.

My hair dresser calls it a "reverse mullet" which means it is short in the back/top and not in the front. Like rikki rockett? or Nikki Sixx? thats where the style came from, I think. The Emo's just brought it back, thats all. Good luck

Why dont you just give them a pic of Aaron's old hair?

I don't want to be negative, but rattails, mullets...this look is not going in a great direction. Please re-think this!
